GameStop is putting out a crypto and NFT wallet in beta

GameStop launched a beta version of its crypto and NFT wallet after announcing in February that it would launch a $100 million-backed NFT marketplace. GameStop is a traditional game store that is also exploring the Web3 space.

The GameStop Ethereum-based crypto and NFT wallet lets users store, send, and receive crypto and NFTs through their web browsers, without having to leave them. It also lets them interact with Web3 apps while they’re browsing. The wallet is also non-custodial, which means that users can access their assets with a private key/secret recovery phrase and use it with a variety of hardware wallets.

For now, the beta wallet is only available as an extension for the Google Chrome and Brave web browsers. However, the company’s website says that it will soon be launched as an iOS iPhone app, making it easier for a lot of people to use.

Many people already know that the wallet is in preparation for GameStop’s launch of an NFT marketplace, which, according to the company’s fourth-quarter earnings report from March, will happen by the end of July. When it comes out, the wallet will be easily integrated into the marketplace. Users will also be able to take advantage of lower Ethereum gas fees, thanks to the integration of the Layer 2 protocol Immutable X into the platform.
